Top 10 Tuesday Freebie: 10 Reasons Why I HATE Summer

*Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish*

I hate Summer.

HATE IT.

Why?  Let me count the ways:

1.) Sunburns- My background is Irish.  To say I’m pale is an understatement.  Sitting outside for 20 minutes without sunscreen will gain me a respectable sunburn.  The sun= IT BURNS.

2.) Humidity- I grew up in Kentucky, in the Ohio River Valley.  My hair is thick, coarse, and wavy.  It can also detect humidity from 100 miles away.  It grows into a magnificent fluff ball in the summer.  It’s hot.  And don’t get me started on what the humidity does to my already oil complection.

3.) Sweat- Do we really have to say anything else on the subject?

4.) Summer Attire- Yeah, my legs are not made for short shorts, or any shorts really (and they REFUSE to tan).  If it could be fall when I could rock some tights, that would be great.

5.) Shaving- Again, do we really need to say anything else?

6.) Mosquitoes- They love me.  I hate them.

7.) Allergies- If it grows, it makes me miserable.  And while I love the smell of freshly cut grass, my allergies hate it.

8.) Hot Cars- Nothing like hopping into a black car with tinted windows (I didn’t think of these problems until after I bought the car) that has had the windows up all day because it was looked like rain.  Speaking of rain….

9.) Impromptu Summer Storms– I only hate these because storms FREAK OUT  The Tiny Human.  Especially if they come in the middle of the night.

10.) Summer Reading– This is a love-hate relationship. I love seeing all of the kids.  I love the programs.  I HATE planning it and I HATE the hateful people who have to complain about EVERYTHING we’re doing during the summer.

I can’t be the only one who hates summer.  Who else is with me?!

Summer Reading, Shiny Things, and Other (mis)Advtures

Ohai blog.  Have you missed me?  I’m sorry you’ve been ignored, but Summer Reading is here.

Who else is counting down days until the end of Summer Reading?

You too?  Glad I’m not the only one.

And it’s not even been a busy summer.  The last two summers have nearly killed me and this year, my exhaustion level is comparable to the rest of the year’s exhaustion level.

In other news, The Tiny Human starts Kindergarten in August.  It does not seem possible.  I don’t think I’ll cry on the first day of school, but we shall see.  Supply shopping has not begun yet but the quest to find pants/shorts for a tall, scrawny little boy has commenced.  If he had inherited my physique, this would not be an issue.

Oh, and I’m now a merchandiser for Chloe + Isabel.  Check out my online boutique: chloeandisabel.com/boutique/librarylyssa.

How is the summer going for everyone else?
