Top 10 Tuesday: 10 Facts About Me

*Top 10 Tuesday is weekly feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish*

Time for my favorite topic, me!

Seriously, I’m so vain I KNOW this song is about me.

Moving on….

1.) Thanks Alyssa Milano– Yep, I am named after her.  My mom was watching “Who’s the Boss?” one day and thought Alyssa was a name that was different, but not off the wall.  (Bonus fact: Alyssa Milano and I both have December birthdays).

2.) Birthday Cake for Days– Speaking of December birthdays, my family has a few during the first part of the month.  How many?

12/2- My grandpa

12/4- Me and my great-grandpa

12/8- My sister

12/12- Two of my cousins.  They are siblings who were born 2 years, 1 hour and 45 minutes apart.

3.) Origami Yoda– I was OBSESSED with origami as a tween, and can still bust out an origami cup or ball.  But I can’t make origami Yoda….

4.) #hamiltrash–  Yes, I’m one of those Hamilton obsessed people.  I’m going to finish the Chernow biography if it kills me (and it might).

5.)  Bad Melon– I hate melons.  Watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe.  They are all gross.

6.) Dr. Pepper is Not a Good Physician– I hurt my shoulder in college and ended up losing some of the feeling in my right pinky all from picking up a 12 pack of Diet Dr. Pepper.

7.) Allergic to My Job– No, really.  I have allergies to dust, mold, and mildew.  Not great for a librarian.  It’s the main reason why I didn’t go into rare book librarianship (and the whole not being able to read French or German thing).

8.) Straighten Up– I’ve had braces twice…and need them again…..

9.) Say What?– I lost the hearing in my left ear for three days after a .38 Special/Lynyrd Skynyrd concert.  Boyfriend at the time just had to be near the speakers.

10.) Vote for Pedro– I’ve never seen Napoleon Dynamite.

What 10 things should I know about you?

    1. I have been in an earthquake, a tornado, a blizzard, and a typhoon – although not all at once. 🙂

    2. I once broke my nose by slipping in the shower and faceplanting into the bathtub. When I saw my chiropractor later that day he asked, “So when you landed, what position was your back in?”

    3. I never went through a “horse obsession” phase as a kid, and thanks to the first (and only) horse I ever rode getting stung by a bee while I was still riding it, I probably never will enjoy horses.

    4. I often take notes in mirror-image writing, especially if the meeting is really boring and I’m trying to stay awake.

    5. I went to my very first Halloween party when I was 32.

    6. I talk to myself. A lot. When my spouse and I were in library school, he left the house to go to class and I proceeded to take a shower and have a conversation with myself. He forgot something and came back home to hear me talking. He came into the bathroom to tell me not to use my cell phone in the shower and I screamed bloody murder which in turn caused him to scream. The neighbors were probably wondering what was so exciting at 9 AM on a Tuesday.

    7. When I look at buildings, monuments, etc., I often imagine what they would look like built out of LEGO bricks. I even made a project for library school completely out of LEGO bricks.

    8. Since my freshman year of college, I have slept with a giant stuffed turtle named Derf. I’ve been married for three years now and Derf is still around, although he’s become a bit, um, aromatic and probably could use a bath.

    9. According to my spouse, when I talk to people from Minnesota I develop a Minnesotan accent. Of course, he thinks that “tour” should rhyme with “fur,” so he hardly has room to talk.

    10. If they came in my size, I would dress entirely in clothing from the little boys’ department. LEGO, Star Wars, dinosaurs – how come they get all the cool stuff?
