Top 10 Tuesday: Favorite Releases of 2016 (So Far….)

*Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish*

Ok, so this isn’t a true top 10 list since I only have 6 selections.  I haven’t read a ton of 2016 releases.  I feel like I’m always playing “catch-up” when it comes to a lot of books.  Anyone else in this boat?

Night Shift (Midnight, Texas, #3)

Morning Star (Red Rising, #3)

The Nest

A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #2)

The Adventures of Lettie Peppercorn

The Forgotten Room

What are your favorites from 2016, so far?

Top Ten Tuesday: Bookworm Delights

*Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish*

Ah, the joys of reading!  The joys of books!  Here a few things that please my inner bookworm to no end:

1.) New Book Smell–  You can’t beat it.

2.) Cracking The Spine of a New Hardback– Yes, this is controversial.  I LOVE IT!  It is a beautiful magical sound that can only happen once.

3.) New Books from Favorite Authors–  I squee to the heavens anytime Jack Gantos or Adam Gidwitz writes something new.

4.) Authors Acknowledging Your Presence on Social Media– Judy Schachner posting on my wall after I liked her on Facebook?  LIFE MADE.

5.) Uninterrupted Reading Time- As a mom, anytime I get to read with no interruptions (other than the cat, because that will never be prevented) it’s glorious.

6.) New Book Day at the Library– When the cataloguer brings out MOUNTAINS of new books, it’s glorious.

7.)  When Someone Loves a Book I Recommended- Especially if it’s a child.

8.) LOL Moments– If an author makes me cackle aloud, it’s a glorious moment.  That being said, I nominate Pierce Brown for best use of “Bye Felicia.”

9.) Literature Couture– Clothing with book references?  Plz take my monies.

10.) The Knowledge That I Will Never Be Truly Alone As Long As I Have a Book- Priceless.

What are your favorite bookish delights?

Top Ten Tuesday: Songs I Wish Were Books

*Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish*

Songs can tell wonderful stories…but sometimes you just want more of the story!  Here’s a few songs I need more of the story from.

The One That Got Away- The Civil Wars

Whiskey Lullaby– Brad Paisley and Allison Krauss

Scenes From An Italian Restaurant– Billy Joel

Summer Highland Falls– Billy Joel

Someone New– Hozier

Somebody That I Used to Know Gotye

SIDE NOTE:  This post has made me think of the YA book Impossible by Nancy Werlin.  It relies heavily on Simon and Garfunkel’s Scarborough Fair to help tell the story of a girl trying to break a family curse in order to save herself and her family.  READ IT.

What songs would you like turned into books?

Top Ten Tuesday: Top 10 Books I’ve Read in 2015 (so far….)

*Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish*

Hoot by Carl Hiaasen- Yes, I’m late to the party on this one, I know.

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell- OH MY HEART!

Because of Mr. Terupt by Rob Buyea- Every chapter is from a different character’s POV and each character is distinct.  Wonderfully done.

Counting by 7s by Holly Goldberg Sloan- Again, my heart.  Great characters.

Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas- WHERE’S THE SEQUEL?!?!

The Meaning of Maggie by Megan Jean Sovern- Wonderful little book.  Maggie is delightful.

Rain Reign by Ann M. Martin- *ugly cries* But I love it so much!

Maddi’s Fridge by Lois Brandt- Great story about friendship.

I Wish You More by Amy Krouse Rosenthal- Perfect for caregivers and their little ones to share (and for me to cry again).

El Deafo by Cece Bell- One of the best things I’ve ever read.
